Pilgrimages return to the Holy Land
In a letter from the Department of the Secretariat, dated 17 January 2024, the Universal House of Justice has conveyed that, despite the ongoing unsettled situation in the Holy Land, pilgrims will once again be welcomed to the Bahá’í World Centre from 12 February 2024. Furthermore, with immediate effect, friends are once again permitted to make requests for brief visits to pray in the Sacred Shrines.
Key Information:
Pilgrimages: Pilgrims will be welcomed in the Holy Land from 12 February 2024 (see details below).
Visits to Sacred Shrines: Friends can now request brief visits to pray in the Sacred Shrines.
Important Considerations:
Friends intending to visit are urged to carefully consider the travel advice provided by their respective governments.
Individual judgement should be exercised regarding the timing of the visit, taking into account the prevailing circumstances.
Pilgrims and visitors are kindly requested not to extend their stay beyond the period necessary for their visit to the Bahá’í World Centre.
Individuals are encouraged to stay informed about any updates or changes and to adhere to the guidance provided by the relevant authorities and to approach these visits with prudence and consideration for the current situation.
To request a pilgrimage or brief visit, please access the website pilgrimage.bahai.org. This portal will allow Bahá’ís to submit, track, and update pilgrimage and visit requests directly. Once requests have been processed, the Department of Pilgrimage will contact the requestor via email, providing him or her with instructions on how to view available pilgrimage dates and make a selection.
