Membership of Regional Councils announced

With great joy we announce the appointment of New Zealand’s Regional Bahá'í Councils of Te-Ika-aMāui (North Island) and Te Waipounamu (South Island) for their new one-year term, which will commence on the Day of the Covenant, 26 November 2018.

The National Assembly appoints the members of the Councils from a confidential list of nominees, constituted from the outcome of voting by Local Spiritual Assemblies and persons recommended by members of the Appointed Arm.

For Te Ika a Māui (North Island) Council, the following believers are appointed: Mr Robin Brill, Mr Luke Gibson, Dr Matt Jervis, Mr Nick Moss, Ms Pryanka Nassiry, Mrs Leyla Neilsen, Ms Carmel Skeaff, Mr Saia Tu’itahi, and Mrs Erica Zemke-Smith.

For Te Waipounamu (South Island) Council, the following believers are appointed: Dr Jenny Hindin Miller, Mr Tamati Hoetawa, Mr Lex Macdonald, Dr Sheila Skeaff, and Mrs Onna Tangifolau.

We express our wholehearted appreciation for the devoted services and valuable contribution rendered by the friends whose service is now coming to an end, Mr Riaz Nasrabadi and Mrs Fiona Taufalele-McNaughton.

The institution of the Regional Bahá'í Council has been performing many vital functions pertaining to growth of the Faith—including the systematic advancement of clusters, the movement of pioneers, and the encouragement of friends and institutions to participate in the activities of expansion and consolidation. Since its establishment in Aotearoa New Zealand 2010, Regional Bahá'í Councils have been a tremendous source of encouragement to us as we behold the individuals, agencies and institutions building capacity to accompany large numbers of friends throughout both islands.

We extend our very warmest wishes to the two newly appointed Regional Bahá'í Councils and assure them of our prayers for blessings and confirmations in all their endeavours during these precious days.
