Teaching Conference inspires pioneers in Kaikoura

Kaikoura pioneers, Katy and Badi, were inspired and encouraged by the recent teaching conference.

“The National Teaching Conference we attended in Christchurch really encouraged my husband and me to be more active in our community, where we are the only Bahá’í family. Being part of a study group at the Conference for families with small children helped us realise that there are more Bahá’í families facing the same challenges, and the discussions were so relevant to our reality that we took so much inspiration from it. Also, being in the same room with our children, who were very well looked after by some youth, gave us the flexibility we always need as parents of small children.

After the Conference we went back home to our little town, Kaikoura, thinking "How can we do more?" We decided to start a small children's class with a couple of my 4 year old daughter's friends. We were already meeting with this family once a month for dinner so we consulted with them and agreed to include devotions as part of the gathering and finish the evening with prayers. Starting small is building our confidence to grow these activities and we are hoping that in the future we can gradually increase the number of participants.”
